Known as the sacred lotus because of its symbolic equivalent for Buddha, it is a large perennial with 8 inch in diameter flowers. The hollowed leaves are held on stems from 3 to 6 feet tall which collect raindrops until filled it tips and spills its contents and begins the process again.
